The first round of All-Star fan voting is in the books, with Devin Booker and Chris Paul in the top 10.
Yesterday the NBA released the first round of fan voting results for this year's All-Star teams. Devin Booker and Chris Paul find themselves in the top 10 for Western Conference guards. Booker is 6th with 173,755 votes and CP3 is one spot behind at 7th with 128,127 votes.
Booker is a 1 time All-Star, being an injury replacement for last season's game and Paul is a 10 time All-Star. His last appearance was also last year while playing for the OKC Thunder.
At this point in the season the 2 guards have the following averages.
Booker - 23.1 Points, 3.4 Rebounds & 3.8 Assists
Paul - 16.3 Points, 4.6 Rebounds & 8.5 Assists
One omission from the list, that has been pointed out by some Suns fans online, is Deandre Ayton. His inconsistency this season and drop in offensive production vs his first 2 seasons in the league, have hurt his chances so far. It's also historically more difficult for defense-first Centers to receive a high amount of fan votes, especially since the NBA removed the Center category, merging it with Forwards, to form the "Frontcourt" category.
Ayton is currently averaging 14.2 Points, 12.8 Rebounds, 2.0 Assists & 1.1 Blocks
